Welcome to the future of souvenirs

Welcome to the future of souvenirs

Traditional souvenirs often have a quite bad environmental footprint, generally being produced en masse in faraway countries and then shipped around the world. But what if there was a more sustainable option to shop from?

As I spent a lot of time walking through Amsterdam last year following a bad burn-out, I had the chance to reflect on my connection and what created the deep love I have for the city. This is how I found myself searching for a way to share the unique beauty and emotions that Mokum evokes in me. The answer came naturally: locally sourced souvenirs, in the form of flower seeds. Small yet meaningful, they offer a connection to the city's natural beauty and couldn’t be more local than any other souvenir.

I chose Hollyhocks and Sunflowers—two flowers that have come to symbolize this place for me. Collected from the vibrant streets of A’dam, these seeds do more than remind you of this special place; they also represent a commitment to sustainability. By planting them, travelers can promote biodiversity, transforming their own spaces into havens of life.

Hollyhocks are particularly resilient, often sprouting from the smallest cracks in pavements, towering high above the urban landscape. Imagine walking through the streets and spotting these flowers blooming in unexpected places—on balconies, in front of cafés, or along canal banks. They not only beautify the cityscape but also provide essential habitat and food for bees.

Beyond their aesthetic appeal, planting Hollyhock seeds plays a role in combating climate change and cooling urban environments. Green spaces filled with plants help reduce air pollution and mitigate the urban heat island effect, making them a simple yet powerful way to contribute to environmental health.

For me, the healing power of nature has been profound, and I’m passionate about sharing that connection with others. By offering Hollyhock and Sunflower seeds as souvenirs, I hope to inspire a deeper appreciation for the natural world and encourage sustainable practices in everyday life.

Heart of Gold seeds are more than just a souvenir; they’re a tangible reminder of the importance of living in harmony with the planet. By choosing them, you help cultivate a legacy of beauty and sustainability.

So, next time you’re in Amsterdam, consider skipping the mass-produced trinkets. Instead, bring home something that physically represents the city and its soul—seeds that will bloom and thrive, just like the memories of your time here.

Let’s redefine what it means to be a traveler and strive for change in the souvenir industry, one seed at a time.
